Autumn Winter 2017 Key Trends – Prints & Pattern – Part 2

There was less focus on Print and Pattern this season than in previous seasons and more focus on flat colour, with more monochromatic combinations. When pattern and print were used,  they were generally very strong and used for impact and were clearly linked to the theme of the collection. Checks for Outdoor, at D_Squared2 Camouflage where the collection took a military direction, for instance at Balmain,  or at Raf Simons where large broad stripes were used to give a grungy edge to the presentation

Acid Daze and Folklore

Acid House, Folklore, 1980´s clubwear, were important reference points for some designers, where acid pastel colours, tie-dye, Geometric folk patterns, crochet and cartoon graphics were used. At Gypsy Sport these were all combined into one refreshing, crazy-folk collection. Some of the same details and treatments were also referenced at Dries Van Noten, White Mountaineering, Ralph Lauren, Givenchy and Topman, though not all together.
