Autumn Winter 2017 Key Trends – Sportswear

Sportswear of all kinds is still having huge impact on menswear, from tailored interpretations to Normcore, it continues to influence most collections, maintaining the resurgence of sportswear in general. This season the  sportswear palette has been extended to include more outdoor pursuits and retro sportswear. Whether that be Retro Ski-Wear, 90’s Puffa Jackets, U.S. Varsity Jackets, or any of the gear connected to hunting and fishing in the Big Outdoors.

Varsity was best seen at Stuart Vevers collection for Coach, and at Junya Watanabe who paraded a whole collection of functionally inspired sportswear, in collaboration with the North Face.

Retro Sportswear

Undercover, Lanvin and Z Zegna chose a more retro approach to the whole sportswear trend with cagoules, puffa jackets and retro ski-wear.

Outdoor Pursuits

It seems like The North Face have collaborated with just about everyone this winter, as Junya Watanabe, D Squared2 and Sacai led a grand adventure into the great outdoors, with blanket checks, Puffa Jackets, plaid shirts and hiking gear and North Face Outerwear- redesigned.
