Autumn Winter 2017 Key Trends – Black to Basics

Colour theory tells us, that in economic downturns, consumers buy more of dark colours. When they feel more upbeat and confident about the future, they are more likely to buy brighter colours and bolder patterns. If there was a dominance of any colour in the Autumn-Winter 2017 Mens collections, it was black, followed closely by navy and grey. What does this tell us about  our current situation I wonder? However, when garments are dark and monochromatic the eye is driven to focus on cut, proportion and any stand-out details.
By taking this direction, far from being dull, designers such as Dries Van Noten only demonstrated what they do best, tailoring; beautifully cut, well proportioned, modern, and extremely wearable. Dries showed a masterful display of precision and skill that is only acquired over many years of trial, error and patience, that was both effortless and refreshing.
