London Shows – E.Tautz

A key look from the E.Tautz Spring-Summer 2015 show.

Patrick Grant, the designer behind E.Tautz had a vision of the British seaside for this season which was heavily influenced by the book, A Day Off: An English Journal, by the late photographer Tony Ray-Jones, who himself was a pioneer of black-and-white documentary photography. Ray-Jones’s book studied the English at leisure, particularly their visits to the British seaside. E.Tautz collection was full of references to striped deckchairs and Brighton Mods, with the biggest statement illustrated in the bold and big silhouettes he created, using oversize rolled up trousers, raincoats, plus fours, nautical knitwear and oversized denim smocks. The result was a thoroughly modern collection. The reduced colour palette of gold, marine and white only served to emphasize the assured simplicity of the collection.
